Death Race Behind The Scenes

To my surprise there is already a behind-the-scenes clip of Death Race, the upcoming sci fi movie starring Jason Statham on the web since a few months (on jalopnik). But its authenticity wasn't confirmed till now.

The last Death Race picture Empire Magazine published confirms the video was not fake.

Indeed the dreadful lorry shown in the behind the scenes video of Death Race is the same as the one you may see from front on the picture from Empire:

The vehicle is said to be called the 'Dreadnought', a quite scary name that suits the design of this truck which looks like a product of some military car tuning.

Death Race, the upcoming movie starring Jason Statham that should be released in end of August 2008, is indeed a remake of Death Race 2000, a cult action film from 1975 that notably starred David Carradine (Kung Fu, not Kung Fu Panda) and Sylvester Stallone (Rambo 5).

Fortunately we can already confirm that in the new Death race the cars and the outfits will look much better than this kitschy 1975 movie. The latest pictures of Death Race look indeed promising. But I ope they'll keep the same dark humor as in the original film.

Death Race With Jason Statham in August 2008

Director Paul W.S. Anderson is working on Death Race. It is actually a remake of Death Race 2000, a 1975 film that starred Sylvester Stallone.

Jason Statham will have the lead role in the new Death Race movie.

The film should be released in August 2008.

The Plot:
In a future America, prison inmates are forced to compete against each other in a driving arena. The prison warden (Joan Allen) coerces a prisoner with only weeks before his release (Jason Statham) into becoming a driver. The prisoner becomes a crowd favorite known as Frankenstein. I'm glad to know Jason Statham will star in this remake. With movies like the Transporter or the Bank Job Jason Statham has proved that he is a great actor!
